An open source initiative built around the Linux Kernel, the Android™ software platform from Google provides an application framework for mobile devices. Mistral has ported Android and brought in support for Android on the OMAP3 EVM. Mistral has enabled the following Android features on OMAP3 EVM:
- Touch screen interface with gesture support
- Internet browsing using Android’s Webkit browser with connectivity provided over Wired LAN and Wi-Fi
- Video and Graphics with support from OMAP’s DSP engine
- Audio playback over Headset or Speaker
- Data storage with YAFFS2 on NAND flash, EXT3 and/or VFAT on SD/MMC card or iNAND

On custom-built OMAP35xx based platforms, Mistral has also tested other features such as:
- Voice calls over GSM
- Data connection over GPRS
- Image capture using a camera sensor
- Navigation applications using information provided by the GPS and Electronic Compass
- Motion gaming applications using an Accelerometer

- Providing support for peripherals which are not natively supported in Android
