A blog post on ‘Silicon to product–New trends in consumer electronics product design and productization’ by Srinivas Panapakam
Product design and development has come a long way from traditional product development. Earlier, development involved a semi-conductor company building a reference design around a brought out silicon/processor and further OEMs would build a form factor prototype catering to their specific product vision. The new age fabless semiconductor companies that dominate the consumer electronics market today do not just stop at creating a reference design, but are also involved in designing products which are nearly 80-90% completed.
Article on ‘Designing a Thermal Printer based on the AM437x Product on Module’
Most Retail Point-of-Sale Terminals employ Thermal Printing Technology to print billing receipts. The AM437x PoM is a ready-to-use low-cost, form factor board which greatly helps in reducing the development life cycle for end products such as Retail Point-of-Sale Terminal Devices. In this article, we will demonstrate how a sample thermal printer can be interfaced with Mistral’s AM437x Product on Module.
