the availability of the rugged Intel (Penryn)
Core 2 Duo-based Single Board Computer –
the VPX6 1952 from Curtiss Wright.
The VPX6-1952 is based on the latest processor
technology available from Intel, the Intel
Penryn processor (on the Montevina platform).
Available with embedded video graphics,
4 to 8GB of high-bandwidth SDRAM, the 1952
also comes equipped with a rich I/O complement
including dual SERDES Gigabit Ethernet,
Integrated Platform Management Interfaces
(IPMI), GPIO, Serial channels, USB ports
and an XMC site.
Targeted towards the chal¬lenging
data-processing needs of tactical aircrafts,
armored vehicles and harsh environment naval
systems, the VPX6-1952 employs the open
architecture VITA 46 (VPX) standard. The
high-speed performance of the VPX form factor
combined with the high-performance of Intel
processing makes the 1952 an ideal combination
for advanced future combat systems.
The 1952 is also available in the VITA
48 (VPX REDI) format and in both air-cooled
and conduction-cooled environmental build
grades.
